Red light, skin texture & collagen
A closer look at the published evidence.
What was tested?
The trial enrolled 76 people with facial wrinkles. Researchers compared 633 nm red LEDs, 830 nm near-infrared LEDs, both together, and a sham light. The study schedule lasted four weeks, with subsequent follow-up.
What did the researchers find?
Treated facial areas showed improvements in wrinkle measurements and elasticity. Tissue examinations also found more collagen and elastic fibres.
How to read the finding
The result concerns the wavelengths, facial devices and exposure conditions tested. It does not set a universal light dose or predict an individual result.
